Suresh has over 10 years’ experience in the Hospitality Industry and 10 years’ experience in the Teaching and Learning Industry that spans Asia and Africa. During his tenure in the Hospitality industry he rose from a kitchen assistant through lower and highly visible
middle management positions e.g. Restaurant Manager, in some of the best brands in the world, including: The Raffles Hotel Singapore – then Best Hotel in the World by Conde Nast; The Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore – Best New Hotel in the World by Conde Nast; The Ritz Carlton Singapore. Suresh won many industry accolades personally and as part of the
team, including Best Project Manager – by Singapore Productivity Board, Best Restaurant Award – Café Category-The Five Domes, for Best Hi-Tea in Town by Singapore Tourism Board(STB), Best Restaurant Award – French Restaurant Category- The Chateaubriand by STB, Best Innovative Product , for Dining in the Tallest Bubble Lift in Asia by Marina Square Development and STB. During his early experience in Informatics Group in Singapore, a public listed education group in Singapore, he was a Program Manager for Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and his last position was as a Regional Manager for Franchise Development Unit covering parts of Asia and Africa. He has also sat as the Dean of Hospitality School in KLMU and Megatech International College in Malaysia. He is currently sitting as Industry Specialist for Megatech International College, INTI University and Nilai University. Suresh became CEO of Crew Skills Malaysia in 2014.
Gary Prior
Director
Gary has over 45 years' experience in Asian business, including investment and commercial banking, private equity and direct investment, consulting and corporate management. Before moving to Asia in 1971 to open the regional office of a British merchant bank, Garry practiced corporate and commercial law in London. He remains a director and shareholder in Crew Skills.
Chef Bala
Culinary Director & Senior Lecturer
Chef Bala has more than 30 years’ experience in cooking and instruction. He holds a Sowers Training Centre Certificate in Management and a Stamford College Certificate in Hotel and Catering Management. He started his cooking career in 1988 and by 1999 he was a lecturer at College Damansara Utama in Penang. He also has Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) qualification in Culinary (Level 2 & Level 3 and Vocational Training Officer (VTO). He is also appointed as Panel NOSS, PPL-SLDN, PAJAR, PPL-PLV and also PPL by Pusat Latihan Pengajar& Kemahiran Lanjutan (CIAST). Chef Bala is an appointed External Verifier by City & Guilds and has been appointed by JPK as a Malaysian Panel Judge for the World Skills vocational competition. In 2018 Chef Bala represented Malaysia in an international culinary showcase in China. Chef Bala has worked in many places throughout the world over the course of his career, including 8 years as Principal Western Chef for Istana Brunei. He has worked for many hotels and restaurants
including as Executive Chef. While working as a professional chef, he has also been involved in training in both theory and practical. His first experience was at the College Damansara Utama. He followed this with 2 years in Australia as Team Instructor at Cumberland Lorne Conference and Leisure Resort where he was responsible for recruitment and training of apprentices and other kitchen staff. With local and International experience in both cooking and instruction, Chef Bala brings a lot of skills and first-hand knowledge to Crew Skills.
